  • Setting Up A Healthy Self Sufficient Pantry

    Did you know, you are only between 2 weeks and a month or so, away from starvation? Unlike days of old, today's homes have enough food for a day to a week at best. After that, you may be able to scratch up a meal of sorts, but nothing that will maintain or build health. What if, through a freak act or accident, you were unable to go to the shops, ran out of money with no hope of being able to source support, or, due to some unknown reason, the internet went down and you could not access your own money? Or you were just unable to go anywhere? None of these scenarios are far-fetched. It happens all the time, all around the world. And the worst thing is, most food in supermarkets is not conducive to health. We learn to shop and cook according to what our parents did, our finances and circumstances, what we learned in home economics - or worst of all, advertising. They don't care whether you are healthy or not, or whether their wares will result in you becoming obese or ill. But back to our armageddon scenario. You have no food and no way of getting it. Imagine the chaos where others are in the same boat and you can't borrow from anyone. Or say you live miles from anywhere. Why should it be about canning meat or making cheese or hunting? There is nothing healthy or kind about that; it is survival. But we are about THRIVAL - we live and eat to thrive rather than survive. With a little forward thinking, you could be set up for months, even years, with food that is as much your medicine as it is your nourishment. And you don't even have to possess a big budget. In fact, I learned this as a single parent, in a rental on a very low income (under the minimum wage). Our storage came from recycling centres, from kindly people wanting to get rid of their junk (our treasures) and what we already had on hand. We would scrounge freebies, giveaways, take offers from people happy to share the spoils of their gardens. Roadside rubbish even, before the trucks had a chance to dump useful items. I even managed to get (for free) dried goods bins from a shop that was upgrading. Start with planning and collection: Glass jars of all sizes, with lids Large food-grade plastic tubs Metal storage tins Scoops Takeaway containers Shelving Next, make a list of ingredients; main food ingredients as well as those which will enhance the taste. Start going to farmers' markets, growing your own food - more about that in another article but did you know there are over 12 THOUSAND plant foods in the world? What are we doing? Most people eat less than a dozen fresh foods regularly! Farmers grow a scant few. Home gardeners stick to the basics; potatoes, peas, beans, tomatoes, chillis, lettuce and brassicas mostly. Be inventive; add a variety to your garden, pantry - and palate. What about herbs, both medicinal & culinary? What about spices? Fruit & nut trees? Berries? If you have room, get growing. If you don't, grow smaller varieties or espalier. If you are in a rental, use tubs & grow bags. Take out lawns & put in food forests. Your verge (if you live in a built up area) can be used for food rather than nothing at all. Pick up pots from garage sales and recycling centres. Many councils now offer mulch and potting mix for free, made from the garden waste of residents. Some even deliver. But once again, I digress... What dried goods are we talking about? Firstly, look for bulk food suppliers in your area or online. If you have a very small budget, do as I did and start very small with the tiniest weights. If you can afford it, buy by the kilos. Start BIG. Remember, this is not about bulk junk - this is about thrival and health. Beans, organic pasta, pulses, organic flours. In my pantry, I have staples (organic) - all of these healthy (medicinal) and all of these capable of making hundreds of dishes (a warning - ALWAYS activate (sprout, soak overnight) your pulses as you want to remove the anti-nutrients while unlocking those which are not released until you do: Chickpea flour (replaces egg, makes pancakes and flat breads, thickens soups) Plain flour (baking and gravy) Pastas (various dishes) Soy beans (milk, tempeh, tofu) Chia seeds Split peas White beans (soups and salads) Black beans (soups and salads) Lentils - red & green (tofu, soups, salads, dahl) Chickpeas (tofu, soups, salads, hummus) Nutritional yeast (giving cheese flavour to anything) Sunflower seeds (mock fish, smoothies, salads, dressings) Pumpkin seeds (smoothies, salads, toasted) Flax seeds (smoothies, toasted, dressings) Hemp seeds (smoothies, Buddha bowls) Rolled oats (porridge, cakes, biscuits, smoothies, milk) Cashew pieces (dressings, cheeze, cheesecake, milk) Walnuts (cheese cake bases, biscuits, salads) Almonds (milk, cakes, biscuits, roasted snacks) Rice (meals and salads, puddings, patties & cakes) Sesame seed (they go with everything!) Poppy seed (cakes, bakes) Desiccated coconut (cakes, biscuits, milk, puddings) Rice paper (wraps, skins for roasts) Nori sheets (seaweed for sushi) Mung beans (sprouting) Coconut sugar Olive oil Coconut oil I add to these with each order. Then, I have the herbs, spices and flavourings which I add to my jars: Ground garlic Mixed herbs Paprika Chinese 5 spice Ground ginger Fennel seeds Rosemary Black salt Turmeric Celtic salt Sea salt Lake salt White pepper Black pepper corns Bicarb Baking powder Yeast Make up labels on your printer and label every tub, jar and container according to the weight and bulk of each ingredient; spices & herbs in jars, beans in big jars and tubs and so on. Or if you are one of those blessed to have lovely handwriting, or have done a ticketing course, write them yourself in permanent marker! To deter weevils and pantry moths, put bay leaves into each jar and add sandalwood powder into containers with small holes punched into them to release their amazing scents. It's never too late to start collecting tinned food, but make sure it is healthy. Dried food that is unprocessed is always a bonus. If any of your friends have excess harvests, always let them know you are happy to take whatever they don't want. Make into preserves, sauces and jams - dehydrate what you can't use and make into powders, or put into oils (antipasto). Get a herb garden going. It breaks my heart to see herbs going to waste. Trees like bay and elderberry, shrubs like hawthorn berries, hedges like wormwood, culinary herbs like parsley, oregano, thyme, mint, chamomile, feverfew, fennel, tarragon, sage and anything in between. Put them in tubs or pots or beds; it's up to you. If you have too much, dehydrate and grind. This is just the start. This one measure alone has the ability to take care of everything from your stomach to your health, from improving your garden to completing your homestead. Who knows, you might even be able to make your own skin, oral and hair care! On that note, even if you have no land, your can still be self sufficient!   • Homeopathic Research: Proof hidden in plain sight

    The public could be forgiven for never having heard of the word homeopathy, even though up until less than 100 years ago it was considered mainstream medicine. And even though today, a large percentage of the nation thrives without medical intervention thanks to the daily use of homeopathy. And even though, all around the world, it is considered a vital key to unlocking the door to good health. In the early 1900s, as pharmaceuticals rose in popularity as much from the presence of pharmaceutical representatives as from financial bonuses, homeopathic education evidently clashed with the emerging 'science' and was eliminated from medical school training. By the 1940s most homeopathic hospitals worldwide were taken over by these cashed-up entities or forced to close as traditionally-trained doctors with homeopathic knowledge either were encouraged to learn new methods (with financial incentive) or retired. Media and other entities all but eliminated records which reflected the efficacy and popularity of homeopathy as the norm in health care. Detractors will still say, "But you are talking about something that happened 100 years ago. Medicine has advanced." Yet we still believe something called the germ theory? That all illness stems from bacteria? We are 90% pathogenic; antibiotics have proven that killing off all bacteria - including beneficial bacteria and symbiotic pathogens - is often fatal and is responsible for so much poor health today. Something hypothesized more than 100 years ago is still the foundation of modern medicine despite it being disproven time and again. We threw the baby out with the bath water. Those still in the dark, continue to repeat four erroneous statements; the first, being that there is no scientific evidence and second claiming that homeopathy does not work. Thirdly, it is a placebo and finally, that it is dangerous. It is none of the above. They fail to understand the double-jeopardy they are playing. Namely, that if one was to attempt to prove that any modern science works, using natural standards, most patients would suffer - or die. One simply could not utilise modern medicine, surgery or electrical/nuclear-type medicine to the extent it is possible and safe to use so-called alternatives. They also fail to acknowledge the thousands of studies and research papers available simply because it is impossible to 'prove' homeopathy works if we use the medical research model. All this does is prove a vast lack of knowledge and understanding. That should not be confused with lack of evidence or proof on the part of homeopathy. It does not seem to matter that there are at least 200 million people thriving on homeopathy today; 200 million less people burdening the health system; therein lies the problem. Modern medicine (or allopathy) is a eugenic entity; this results in taking any measures to discredit and destroy any competition. Homeopathy in Australia: The Astonishing Rise and Orchestrated Fall During this time, interest in, modern research and expansion grew in many nations, with renewed interest in places such as: Cuba Brazil Chile (a little known fact: prior to the formal introduction of homeopathy in 1850, Charles Darwin's life was saved using homeopathy - one can only imagine the fanfare still resounding today if he had been cured using a pharmaceutical drug), India (where most progress, practice and research continues today - 100 million users) Mexico Pakistan Switzerland (part of the formal medical system) France (where, despite research proving the efficacy & affordability, has been removed from insurance) United Kingdom (on NHS) United States (where the CDC is working to eliminate homeopathy in order to make it illegal to use) Detractors dismiss prevalence of homeopathy in lower socio-economic nations by drawing attention to disease and poverty; this reflects the lies which resulted in popularity of vaccines in the early 20th century. By simply forgetting that sanitation, finances, access to treatment through geographical & social expectations affect overall health statistics, they ignore factors such as actual efficacy rates, prevention of the progression of illness, avoidance of hospitalisation, surgery and even death. Many of these treatments exist where modern medicine has no answers. Causes of decline: Political as well as financial Slowly it has been removed from free health care, therefore only those placed in the higher socio-economic groups were able to access or use it, even though it remains one of the cheapest health care options. A remedy, if made correctly, can last many lifetimes until the bottle is empty. If stored correctly, it has no use-by date; this flies in the face of modern regulations and that does not sit well. As treatment for acute issues only lasts a few days at the most, one remedy can be used for dozens of similar maladies (ie coughs and colds, minor injuries etc); therefore a remedy which might cost $30 in today's terms when broken down, would cost mere cents per treatment. Regardless of efficacy, this is not beneficial to a pharmaceutical company that can charge many times that amount for the equivalent, or to a medical practitioner who would miss out on payments for prescribing pharmaceuticals. Until relatively recently, an efficient medical insurance could cover natural therapies and their prescriptions. Again, this leads back to pharmaceutical profit. The WHO We homeopaths inherited the ongoing fight to reinstate homeopathy as a valid healing science. This has shadowed our practice from the beginning. I was personally told, by a WHO representative, at a medical symposium in 1991 that by 2000, naturopaths would be registered on par with GPs, while practitioners specialising - ie homeopathy, acupuncture, osteopaths, chiropractors etc - would be registered as specialists on par with medical specialists. With the formation of the EU, heavily funded by pharmaceutical groups, a virus of real concern was spreading throughout the western world. This virus was man made and presented in varying ways, depending on the individual nation's health structure. In Australia, it was the PAN 'crisis' - a scapegoat modern day Guy Fawkes effigy which culminated in the closure of Australian natural health companies, removal of practitioner provider numbers and most telling, the liquidation-price purchase of choice natural health companies by pharmaceutical giants. All the fanfare of the day filled the media and put fear into the hearts of everyday Australians, while the very foundations of natural health crumbled. The WHO scrambled to release press statements as the fallout around the world from similar activity; suddenly, natural health was taboo, dangerous, unproven, even illegal. In Australia, the TGA changed from its stance in 1991 (promotion and acceptance via a 'complimentary & alternative medicine' sector) to join the push to outlaw natural medicines. Many established practitioners could no longer register formally. This remained and was bolstered with the fraudulent NHMRC document which officially stands today. It did not matter that by 2023, the TGA's stance on homeopathy had changed. Even homeopaths were not told unless we asked; that The WHO quietly snuck in the changes: Homeopathy is now considered an integral resource in medicine. And the ignorant continue to parrot the NHMRC lies ad nauseam. It is not beyond the abilities of anyone paid by this eugenic system to hack and take down websites promoting homeopathy. Likewise, by the end of 2023, moves were made via Google, to remove or at least displace any website or link which provided not only homeopathic but all natural medicines outside of the medical paradigm. If one were to Google the simple word homeopathy - or in fact, any natural medicine modality, you would be faced with pages of misleading, defamatory and erroneous information. The work of many practitioners has been destroyed, while thousands of previous-available PDFs are no longer found on the internet. Afterthought: The NHMRC This afterthought is given the attention it deserves, an addendum simply to expose the facts. The 'study' which efficiently had natural therapies such as homeopathy removed from the Australian health system and public announcements 'proving' homeopathy does not work, was funded (excessively) by various pharmaceutical giants as well as the Australian medical associations, boards and associated back-slapping, golden hand-shaking groups. It is fraudulent as shown through the High Court courtesy of the Ombudsman. The damage is immeasurable as people suffering illnesses for which nothing can be done in a medical capacity have either been driven to suicide or slow, painful deaths, or continue to suffer with the 'relief' of addictive, prescription medications carrying a host of direct effects passed off as side effects.   • Probiotics : Not just your gut.

    We're doing it wrong. You heard me. Have you never wondered why you need to keep taking a supplement that you shouldn't need to obtain from sources outside the body? Or that your body is more than capable of breeding its own? In fact, that is exactly what should be happening. The only time you need to supplement is when external forces have entered the body and depleted so many of these good bacteria that they cannot replenish fast enough to beat those not so beneficial. Those external forces are usually chemical - antibiotics and other strong toxic medications, alcohol, sugar, unsuitable diet, etc. By weight, we are around 90% pathogenic, That's right; all our tissues and interstitial spaces are filled with pathogens of many sizes, shapes and species. This equates to around between 30 - 40 trillion of these bacteria. And unless introduced, most are beneficial. We live in perfect symbiotic harmony. But from birth, we are bombarded with acidic food/drink, toxic medications, chemicals and poisons that should never enter the human body. This destroys our ability to make our own; probiotics are able, in a sound, pH stable environment, of multiplying continuously, to maintain a volume of many litres at any given time. So many people still do not see the importance here - including doctors, who are still generally in the habit of saying, "Diet makes no difference," or, "There is no research that proves..." when the truth is, THEY do not know and cannot be bothered reading the research. Most do not even realise that when we are tested pathologically for a bacteria or 'virus', that by nature, it is usually part of our make-up. It's only when the wrong pathogens flourish and the good pathogens are overtaken, that we have a problem. We don't usually just magically 'catch' these pathogens - they are in us already. This topic is vast and affects EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF the body and its health, including mental, both acute & chronic health, reproductive health, weight, immunity, skin health, digestion, terminal & auto-immune diseases and intellectual capacity. The crux remains; almost every aspect of modern life is systematically destroying good bacteria; allowing 'bad' bacteria to thrive, causing disease and resulting in more of the wizardry that caused the imbalance in the first place (over medicating). It's not only sugar and antibiotics doing the damage, although they are at the top of the destructive chain. A major aspect of microbiome health is oral health. Thanks to sugar, snacking, sipping sweet drinks- even toothbrushing coupled with destructive mouthwashes, the chain of digestion you perhaps studied in school has long been eroded and destroyed. We brush our teeth with toxic ingredients, rinse with chemicals that kill ALL bacteria (good and bad) and stop the correct process of digestion as our ancestors knew it. Why is that that skeletons unearthed, from thousands of years ago, have perfect teeth? They didn't brush their teeth, let alone see a dentist. Why is it that these teeth, exposed to the ravages of time, can remain perfectly in tact, while in our mouths, they decay? Why is no one even speaking about this? Mouth pH and decay are linked to most modern diseases through the toxicity and broken processes that result. So what do we do? We pop a probiotic capsule and hope for the best. By the time the capsule membrane has dissolved, the contents are already in the small intestine. Good, but that means probiotics have bypassed our mouths and stomachs. It means that the processes that would usually start when you put something into your mouth have also been bypassed and necessary enzymes have not been activated. The probiotic bacteria need these enzymes to even do their job. I've lost count of the number of patients who said, "I paid big money for my course of probiotics, but they didn't do anything." And even more who take probiotics every single day, yet could not tell me whether they have helped, let alone what they actually do. When you drink your kombucha or kefir, do you hold it in your mouth for a time before swallowing? You should! Kimchi and sauerkraut are a little different as (hopefully) the consumer has chewed well and the mastication process has activated the rest of the body. So, what to do? Firstly, cut out all processed sugar. Stop drinking ANYTHING around the time you take your probiotics. Stop drinking ANYTHING when you eat food. Leave that for at least half an hour before and after eating. Stop using mouth wash unless it is a probiotic mouthwash. Give your mouth (and body) a break between meals and snacks. Eat more raw food. But the biggest one, you have probably never heard of..... Don't take your probiotics in capsule form! Break the capsule, empty the contents into a small (approx 30ml) amount of water, stir to dissolve, leave for 10 minutes to activate the probiotics. While you wait, brush your teeth with a non toxic toothpaste. Bear in mind, most commercial toothpastes are toxic. When you finish, rinse your mouth well with water; preferably with filtered water. Spit, then rinse well, again. It should only take 5 minutes before your mouth is free of the strong flavours that usually taint a toothpaste. If it takes any longer, your toothpaste is too strong. Tip the probiotic water into your mouth but don't swallow. Hold it in your mouth. Swill & swish it around as you would with mouthwash. Have you ever wondered why breastfed babies' breath is so sweet? Because of the probiotic content. Once you have held it in your mouth for between 1 - 5 minutes (the longer, the better) swallow in increments. Swallow a small portion & continue swishing. 30 seconds later, repeat By the time you swallow the 3rd or 4th time, you are only swallowing saliva that has been enriched with probiotics that are already madly multiplying. Do this preferably before bed so there is no competition. No more food or drink. There is one more bonus... Well, this bonus is actually multiple. When you have used this method of consumption, your stomach and intestines are ready because the probiotic activity has activated the rest of the digestive systems and various receptors around the body. But just as important (and this is a doozy) probiotics have begun moving up into your sinus cavities, into your ear canals, down into your throat and even up into your brain. "And why is this so important?" I hear you ask. We know about bacteria but have you considered what 'virus' truly means? There are pathogens so small that they can fit dozens, hundreds, thousands or even millions of times into a bacteria or parasite. They are usually unidentifiable and even untraceable with regular medical testing, so they are just called viruses. In auto immune, cancer, chronic disease, so-called contagions, they move into our organs - and brain. By flooding your brain with probiotics, these pathogens cannot survive. They also put an end to sinus inflammation, many allergies and even headaches and swollen glands. And there is a little thing called tooth decay. That's right; probiotics - or lack of them - is the one major cause of tooth decay, periodontal disease and gum disease. Yet, we don't hear about it. I guess big pharma hasn't yet made a case big enough for our governments to ban probiotics outright so they can make a prescription-only drug that will magically provide the answer. But you can bet they are working on it. So, unless moderation means balance, please stop believing and repeating that lazy old adage, "Everything in moderation."   • Collagen - The Glue That Holds us Together

    I go on a bit about protein & what a mythological entity it is. Many switch off here because we 'need' protein, right? What would you say if I told you we don't, that it is a fallacy? Think about it. The word protein was coined in the early 1800s - around the same time it was discovered that protein toxicity ('proteinuria' or excess of amino chains in the urine because the body is trying to excrete it) was high in people with a low plant intake & high meat intake. It wasn't about the need for protein but the excess of it. The diseases found amongst those especially in built up cities that did not have access or interest in fresh plant foods. To be deficient in 'protein' we have to be deficient in every other nutrient because it is linked to all other nutrients. Exacerbated by things like excess alcohol and sugar, the body literally begins breaking down because we eat and live out of balance. What does that breaking down look like? Degenerative diseases (neuro, skin, bones, blood, organs) Cancers Diabetes Kidney disease Thyroid disorders Mental health disorders Heart disease Body wasting (opposite to muscle mass & keto/paleo-type diets that trigger weight loss short term and living decay over time). And then we get onto all the fads Protein powders, bone broth, protein bars. Wait, what does bone broth have to do with it? Well, collagen is a complex amino chain - the glue that holds us together. We are told that we 'need' to consume the collagen of another species to be strong and healthy. Someone forgot the memo that like the animals humans consume, we can CREATE our own collagen and that by supplementing with the so-called nutrients of another species, we are in fact destroying our body's natural capabilities of creating our own. So what are the building blocks of collagen? Those would be LAMININS; crucifix-shaped, helix-bound structures are the ties or glue that hold those tiny AMINOS together. Aminos form 'protein' in hundreds of ways. And every system, every organ, every function requires a different chain or combination of aminos. The lie that we 'need' complete protein (ie meat) to survive, has resulted in so much sickness and death is as bad as it gets. But back to these electron-microscopic particles; I can just imagine people are now making a mental note to go out and buy a laminin supplement. Well, you kind of can, by taking a land or water plant supplement. And how do your calcium supplements tie in, apart from being acidic and useless? It is not calcium that gives you strong bones; that is a part of it. Yes, we need calcium but unless we are deficient in everything else or have very bad gut health, calcium is not an issue - but too many have massive stores of this space junk floating around in our blood & lymph (read, blood clots & blocked arteries). To build strong bones, strong immune systems & strong gut health, we need foods rich in laminins in order to build our own collagen - ie build our own stores. That comes from PLANTS. Raw or fermented in most cases is better, so get to love salad and cook less. Not just a slice of tomato, a few lettuce leaves or a bit of grated carrot. But as wide a selection of fresh raw fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts as you can get. Raw sprouts and ferments are about as good as it gets.     Pyrrole disorder, Kryptopyroluria or any other name it is given, has been known of for over 50 years and remains largely ignored by the medical profession around the world, even though it is linked to many of the psychological and physical ailments plaguing society today.   • The Dangers of a FREE Health System.

    The Greatest Wealth is Health - so said the poet Virgil. As far back as 70BC, where the gulf between wealth & poverty was as obscene as it is today, it was evident that no amount of financial wealth could compare to the possession of good health. Over the years, history-writers, media & leaders have told us that true wealth revolved around physical possessions. How odd then, the happiest people in the world are the most financially poor, while the most miserable are those so wealthy they no longer live in the real world. What use is a billion dollars when you are wracked with pain or dying of 'incurable' disease? Howard Hughes was a billionaire yet died without relief, from chronic ill health. All the money in the world is worthless without good health. In countries like the US, all health care depends on the most corrupt system known to man other than the legal system ie medical insurance. You can be turned away to die if you do not have the right insurance. People often need to sell their house just to pay for medical care. But what of the countries that offer free health services such as the UK or Australia? If you are in an emergency and need urgent care, it is excellent. But for the person who is pro-active in the maintenance of their health, diet and lifestyle, and prefer to see what health insurance calls extras which not only build vital health but are able to treat ill health where modern medicine fails, it is less than useless. The FREE health system covers GP visits, some specialists, pathology, radiology, hospital visits and even medication. Some surgery is available - with unbelievable waiting lists. But nothing that is pro-active in good health. Not even discounts, unless the natural health practitioner (who, unlike their medical counterpart, must pay for their own studies and clinical set-up) takes money out of their own pockets to do so (many do). One of the most common reasons that a person cannot access natural health care is cost. Contrary to popular belief, it is not expensive to be healthy. Stats prove that relying on modern medicine which is usually post-event (sourced only after poor health has eventuated) drains more of the nation's funds than anything else. In 1991 I was approached by Australia's Medicare for a trial - whether integrating natural health into medicare would save the government money in the long term. Naturally, it would cost a good deal to set up, but focus on acute health, action, reduced prescriptions, reduced hospitalisation numbers, reduced medical visits & reduced reliance on ambulance/ER would result in a far healthier population AND save money. Of course, I jumped at the chance and looked forward to proving what I had believed during my nursing years as I saw chronic poor health become such a drain on the system. Excitement in my little town amongst my patients grew, but nothing happened. After a respectable wait, I contacted Medicare to find out why I had not received the set-up stationery, equipment and instructions. I was informed that they had decided to not go ahead with it (that would explain why nothing had been mentioned in the media) and instead, they would encourage doctors to practice 'wellness, integrative and preventive' medicine to see how it panned out. Zero training mind you, but let's set this up and watch it fail and then say natural medicine failed. That was over 30 years ago. I have lost count of the number of lives I have had to witness fade away - yes, I have provided free health advice but my recommended prescriptions are not free, they must be out-of-pocket. I have attempted to access cheap alternatives, but even so, if someone is struggling to pay rent they will simply not have the money for any supplement or herb or referred therapy, regardless of whether it will give them better quality of life. Meanwhile they can go to any bulk-billing quack and get a tray of free side-effect laden med samples or a script for less than $10. I recently had the misfortune to stand in line while waiting to pay for a natural product in a pharmacy. A guy younger than I, hobbled on crutches. At a guess I would say he tipped the scales at around 120kg. His ankles were as thick as his swollen knees. His visible skin was flaky & raw. His eyes were bloodshot and you could not help but feel absolute empathy for him. He was a fine example of what poor diet and bad FREE medical management is achieving all over the world. The chirpy assistant behind the counter obviously knew him by name, and was proud to announce that his loyalty card, combined with his PBS, meant the entire large tray of pharmaceutical medications was FREE. I only recognised a handful of the boxes (yes, he had more than half a dozen different medications, all prescription) and knew all of them had shocking side effects which required further medication to mask; he had 3 different opiate medications and 2 antidepressant/antipsychotics. Here was a man, barely over 40, an invalid pensioner, dependent upon medication to EXIST. I asked him what his health issue was & was horrified to hear that he'd had a car accident 6 years previously - every single one of these medications & health issues was because of the treatment he had received since - including the mental health issues which were a direct side effect. He knew he could live a healthier life but COULD NOT AFFORD IT. And yet, prescription and medical error kills millions every year. Another old gent, aged 72, thought he would try natural health after being enslaved to the medical system courtesy of his top medical insurance cover. He knew it was failing him, no longer trusted doctors, and at the initial consult handed me over a list of 9 prescription medications. I asked him what his problem was and he said he was healthy except for type II diabetes which was onset by his weightgain in his 50s. He'd managed to improve his weight on a plant based diet and reduced his insulin needs, but wanted to do more. He walked miles every day & continued to do all his home & garden maintenance himself. For a few months we worked together & he managed to remove almost all of the medications from his health plan. He came to see me one day, apologetic that he could no longer afford my services even though as a friend, I had discounted his consults to almost nothing. He'd had a few bad falls and was dependent on some expensive medication ($90 per tablet). Being a self-funded pensioner, he could only afford 2 tablets a week as his health insurance did not cover them. So acupuncture was the first thing to go. So, he was in pain 5 days a week and had to choose which 2 days he could live without pain. The side effects were horrific, including dizziness to the point of falling over frequently. He also experienced unbearable abdominal pain and shakes but he believed compared to the hip pain it was worth it. He could no longer afford supplements. I did not see him for a few months and his widow came to see me. The side effects of the analgesia were such that he went into a coma and did not recover. All because he could not afford the health care that was giving him life and he was just a number in the system - no one cared that he could not afford to be free of pain. I have a thick catalogue of such cases. These are just my own. If one was to study every case file individually, only a few would not match these stories. Today's GPs are sadly relegated to sitting at desks, dispensing prescriptions and referrals. Few get to see their patients in hospital. Few get to see the effects of the advice they give. Yet, prior to the advent of Medicare and the PBS, the GP provided all care, from initial visit to the end result. Today, they merely prescribe medications to keep the patient alive, at any cost. And what a huge cost that is. Thankfully today, free natural health advice is available all over the world, in books and online. They even have a term for it, to ensure the individual is turned away from it - self medicating. Yet, I have seen more cures courtesy of this 'self medicating' than I have seen in modern medicine.   • SOY - The Facts.

    IS SOY A HEALTH FOOD OR NOT? For thousands of years, soy has been used as food and medicine - outside of the western world. One of the most versatile plant foods, it has sustained life easily as long as the humble olive, yet unlike olive, because it is capable of replacing everything from milk to flour to meat and everything in between (sauce, dressings, cheese, green beans, medicines, tonics, etc) more than a few noses were collectively put out of joint. AND IT WAS ORGANIC. NOT GMO. But the gloves came off; something had to be done to stop this simple, easy to grow plant, capable of growing in almost any climate or soil, from destroying the very industries making the most money. Such was the brilliance of the flourish of the anti-soy pen brigade with pseudo health and nutrition experts coming out of the woodwork at a galloping rate of knots, that even true experts began believing the lies. All of a sudden, meat and dairy magically became the only true, reliable source of protein and health. Protein deficiency became the number one health issue across the globe and people who cared for their health began consuming second hand protein, sourced from animal flesh and secretions, at a rate hundreds of times the RDA necessary for good health, while forgetting one little detail; to become deficient in protein, you would first need to become deficient in just about every other nutrient needed for life. Living beings make our own protein. You heard it right. Protein is the end result of consuming a variety of amino acids which, when joined together in various chains, become protein. As a health advisor in the 90s, as awareness of soy meat and dairy alternatives began to increase, I was approached by well paid meat and dairy scientists and advertising experts who tried their hardest to convince me that I had been lied to, that soy was toxic. Around the same time, genetically modified, glyphosate sprayed soy was released and flooded the market. Even the brightest failed to get it; soy had been poisoned. That did not mean soy itself was poison, any more than the people who were increasingly being poisoned by the same pharmaceutical/ag giants were poison. SO, WHAT ARE THE FACTS REGARDING SOY? Plant hormones (phytoestrogens) are NOT animal hormones. The same people up in arms about the hysteria of some perceived hormonal damage a la The Fly or some plague-like epidemic-type movie conveniently forget the little real fact that dairy, eggs, chicken and all meat is not only a good source of real hormones capable of changing your own hormones but animals are regularly injected with hormones to force growth. Soy will NOT make you infertile. Has no one considered that China, where soy has been consumed abundantly for over 3000 years, also has the highest birthrate? Soy will NOT cause cancer. In fact, soy is used in natural cancer treatments with excellent results. This myth was also started around the belief that phytoestrogens were somehow human hormones, and as many types of cancer are fed by hormones, even doctors who are not schooled in herbal medicine were soon advising their patients against soy foods. Soy allergy is real - but rare. Let's get real. GMO soy is now an ingredient in vaccines - along with peanuts, animal DNA, dairy, shellfish and eggs - all of which now present as severe allergies at levels not seen prior to modern vaccine development. To break it down: Soy allergy affects a little more than 0.1% of the population. Meanwhile - Peanut allergy affects around 3% of the population. Shellfish allergy affects around 1% of the population. 8% of infants develop egg allergy. 65% of the public are unable to digest dairy (intolerance), while up to 3% are severely allergic. Gluten intolerance (mostly glyphosate toxicity) is linked to myriad auto immune & inflammatory diseases - affecting around 10% of the population while coeliac disease affects 1 in 100 in various levels (1 in around 5000 ever receive a diagnosis - this is how little experts consider the issue). 'But soy farming is destroying the planet.' Really? How selective we are! Along with broadacre, mass scale farming in general, in which 70% of the world's food crops are fed to livestock for human consumption, in the case of soybeans, only 6% of the world's soybean cops are fed to humans. That means 94% is mass produced, GMO and done so in order to continue with the appalling livestock farming habits. For meat eaters. 'But I can't bring myself to drink soymilk. It's gross.' Let's break that down; some of my other articles go into the true grossness of dairy farming & production (1). I married into a long line of dairy farmers. the memories will never leave my nightmares. I have to live with the guilt of never being able to change things. Dairy contains everything from pus to faeces to pharmaceutical drugs to blood - & hormones. Boiling it wont change that. A child raised on soy will prefer it to dairy any day. If we are going to choose something based on an addiction, I could argue that most of us would prefer opium to aspirin, right? Mental apathy at work. 'But we need cow's milk for calcium and protein.' No, we don't. In fact humans cannot assimilate dairy; we just do not have the enzymes needed to do this. Calves do, but they are killed so humans can continue consuming what their mums make for them. Meanwhile, soy is rich in not just protein and calcium but a swathe of other vital nutrients. And guess what? We CAN digest it. 'My health guru tells me that grass fed and organic raw milk is better than soy.' Good for them. Chances are, they make their money depending on it. Chinese whispers. Groups like Weston A Price are heavy investors spreading the rumours. If I had a dollar for every patient who came to me after believing the whole grass fed beef/organic raw milk/bone broth hype, slowly dying in front of me, full of inflammation and disease, whose life was turned around simply by turning their backs on these lies, and swapping out the poison for soy, I would never have to work again. Besides, consuming meat, fish and dairy creates excessive strain on filtration action of the kidneys. Consumption of soy avoids this undue strain. Yes, if an advocate of grass fed beef, organic fish and organic raw milk lived on a diet of organic fresh food also, then common sense would dictate THAT was responsible - but no, any chance to continue the old habits and excuse them as ethical and healthy. Soy does NOT grow 'moobs' or man boobs. The men who are reported to have developed man boobs, in studies, have proven to be great consumers of the real hormone foods - dairy and chicken. Sumo wrestlers were often cited as prime examples. Yet the daily food consumption of a sumo wrestler reads like this - If you are into calories, think 10 - 20k. Between 1 and 3 kilos of food a day. Lunch is meatbroth, giant bowls of rice, sushi, meatballs, tofu, eggs and vegetables. Dinner is fish, huge serves of noodles and vegetables. A LOT of Japanese beer. Think about that. A small amount of soy. Lots of wheat noodles, eggs, meat & fish. I have heard doctors tell patients the reason they are struggling with weight is because like sumos, they consume a little soymilk... The simple truth is, soy is a wonder food. One tiny bean can replace meat, cheese, milk and can be included as a vegetable in its own right. A single $5 bag of organic soybeans can make 10 litres of milk or a few kilos of tofu or natto or tempeh (meat replacements). Throw them in the ground or a pot and you could feed your family indefinitely with all of the above and abundant fresh beans (edamame) as often as you like. And apparently, we can't have that. Funny, when you say you are eating a plant based, vegetarian or vegan diet, everyone is an expert. Your doctor will rave about the nutritional value of meat and dairy without a single fact to back it up. Get the facts - in reality, they are nutritionally devoid of anything really beneficial considering nutrients are second hand and locked away because we do not have the necessary enzymes to digest.   • MALTODEXTRIN = Destruction of Neurological & Physical Health

    Maltodextrin: What is it and how could it be impacting your health? Well, we all hear of the horrors of GMO, sugar, aspartame etc - but we do not hear of the insidious poison maltodextrin. (Hint: there is no malt in maltodextrin)... Maltodextrin is a GMO polysaccharide carbohydrate derived or synthesized by hydrolysis from corn, potatoes, wheat or rice. Sounds kind of okay, right? Not when 99% of corn is now GMO, potatoes are franken-versions of the real thing, wheat is dessicated with roundup and rice is not even a really healthy food. Unless we are talking wild rice. All other versions (unfortunately, including organic) are GMO mutants of the real thing. And then they extract maltodextrin to enhance flavour of, bulk out & thicken just about everything today (including most pre-made health foods): Protein shakes Stock cubes Bread Sauces Lollies (sweets or candy) Supplements Cereal Salad dressings Soups (both packet and tinned) Gravy mix Yoghurt Pasta Frozen meals Energy drinks Vegan 'meat' alternatives Beer So what? I can already hear some people say. It's not SO bad. But what are the real dangers? See how quickly these symptoms reappear with a vengeance. I know because my family have done this little experiment. The end note here is that it maltodextrin is not found in nature, even though it is in so-called natural and even organic foods. If you have an issue that is not being resolved despite all efforts to improve your health, it could be maltodextrin. And back to my main mantra in choosing what foods to eat - read your labels. Aside from supplementation there are additional homeopathics you may benefit from using - including for pyrrole support & behaviour as well as any other pre-existing symptoms.

  • Self Sufficient Health

    This article has been over 3 decades in the making. Back then, I walked away from medicine, alone. The fallout was immeasurable. Only now, in 2022, are enough people awake, to want to even try to understand the truth. To those relative few who did wake up along the way, thank you. To those who have more recently woken up, well done. I know it's tough, especially now that jobs, homes and personal safety is on the line. In 2021 I had a huge realisation; all the studies, all the professional effort and heartbreak were in my life for a reason: to share and teach something I have coined self sufficient health. Why not? When so many are now going off grid, learning all we can to live outside of the madness, how can we not put health at the fore? Firstly, leave all you have been told at the door. Drop it. Those medigods you have been trained by, subliminally with adverts stating, "Please see your doctor if symptoms persist" - ask yourself if those symptoms are life threatening or whether they were perhaps self inflicted (even unintentionally), caused by exposure to things you are better off avoiding, or the 'side' effects (nope, I would call them DIRECT effects) of former or current 'medications'. I have recently recommenced running workshops on how to build a dedicated home medicine dispensary but the demand is so great that at the very least, a blog post and perhaps either zoom or online courses just may be the way forward so that no one misses out. It must be said that there are now who-knows-how-many-thousands of health professionals now out of work. Immeasurable knowledge and skills going to waste. It is time to build the new health model, free of orthodox control aka registration and monitoring which, let's be real, is little more than paying a bunch of key pushers to tell us we are doing a good job by staying within their designated lines. And if we step outside those lines, and need their help, where are they? In reality they are still controlled by big-pharma and the same old back slappers. The individual, the whole being needing our help means nothing to them. Whydo you think it is, that around the world, there are so many who are vitally healthy, while way more barely exist, or do so with dependence on so many pharma drugs they rattle? Why do we choose shocking violence to our bodies by way of being poisoned or ripped open and vital organs or body parts removed, when it is not even a case of needing to do so to save our lives? I know personally, hundreds of families who would not know what the inside of a doctor's surgery or hospital looks like. Not because they are somehow magically lucky, but because they listened and learned. And saw vital health as the greatest wealth. Below is my summarised version of a how-to of self sufficient health. Find a trustworthy (natural, functional, integrative) health professional who is able to provide online, zoom or phone consultations with you when needed. I must stress WHEN NEEDED. No, you don't need to see your doctor every two weeks, every month or even every 6 months! When did that even become a thing? IF you take care of every aspect of your health, you wont 'need' to see anyone for years. Stop believing the lies. It's why waiting rooms are so overloaded and why it takes so long to see a good professional. When did you stop listening to your body? Do you even understand what your body is trying to tell you? Address your diet. As in clean it up. Did you know that what you eat has been shaped predominantly by our parents, school and advertising? Why is that not such a good thing? Well, our parents were taught by circumstance, their parents, school and advertising. When you break down the truth about nutritional facts found on food labels and even in text books, it amounts to a load of rubbish. It too, is medicalised. I have written ad nauseum on this topic, so please check out my other posts on this matter. I hate repeating myself (I have done it for too many years, to too many brick walls...) Clean up your environment. Again, I have written too many articles on this topic for too many years. We live in a toxic society. Wherever you are sitting, look around you. What materials are the furnishings, furniture, wall coverings, gadgets and toys made from? Chances are, they are mostly toxic. How much fresh air and sunlight do you get? What do you drink? What do you wash with? What do you clean with? Please check out my articles on this topic - this one idea is linked to everything from allergies to organ damage to cancer to auto-immune disease. Therapies: does anyone around you offer even day courses in therapies? Do them! That might be massage, relaxation, yoga, breathwork, etc etc etc. Why do we always rely on strangers to 'fix' us? Just a few hundred years ago, these skills were handed down from elders to future generations and in the most healthy places in the world, they still are. My kids were taught therapies from the time they could speak. My kids were making tinctures before they were teenagers. They could identify herbs and medicinal plants from the time they were toddlers. My granddaughter, aged 7, made her first tincture at the end of 2021. Not because anyone instructed her, but because she had already begun to gather knowledge and by intuition, managed to make a remedy that actually worked. My twins, by the age of 3, were doing cupping therapy on each other any time they needed it. My eldest child was overseas when she was in her early 20s, dealing with a terminal health issue of a loved one. She had learned enough over her years, took the right remedies with her, and bought more over there, while learning some more traditional therapies locally - enough to heal the loved one when all the modern medicine available had failed. On the subject of therapies, what do you use? At the first sign of illness, inflammation or discomfort, do you rush off to the GP for a battery of tests? Why? Seriously, WHY? Stop asking natural health professionals 'so, what do you treat?' Would you ask a doctor that? See a good natural health professional that has been recommended, have the tests they recommend and watch your life change. Imagine health hubs with all the therapies in one place, instead of super-hospitals! Books and websites: haunt all the second hand book stores and buy up the self help natural health books. Which herbs do you need? What natural first aid tips could help your family? What old wives' tales actually work? Don't listen to the media or some dismissive egotistical quack who will not ever consider that all we need is already here if we know how to identify it. Build up a health library. It should also include a record of all your health records thus far. Ask for them, they are yours, after all. Xrays, blood tests, scans, etc. Grow your own. Did you know that EVERY single herb and spice has medicinal value? Have you ever used say parsley for fluid retention, or cinnamon to balance blood sugar? What about corn silk for a UTI or thyme for a sore throat? Set up a herb garden; a few pots on a window sill, a beautiful David's wheel, a cottage garden full of every herb imaginable. Don't just let them sit there like most people do. USE THEM. Dry them, store them, whether in glass jars or in alcohol like brandy, gin or vodka. Oh, and your kitchen should be a healthy one, not a place for junk food or heating up pseudo-food by radiation. Build a first aid kit. Have you done a first aid course? IF not, WHY not? Something that shocks me is this con that we must go back regularly to update our skills. Guess what? If something that worked for me 4 decades ago to save another life actually worked, it will still work for someone who needs saving today! I did my first course when I was about 13. I did a refresher/more intense course during my nursing training. Since then, I have lost count of the number of people alive today because of something I learned back then. Stop thinking you can't do it, stop thinking only doctors can save a life, or that you will make a mistake. If you are worried, read your first aid book again. I still have the same one I got during my first course! SO much knowledge online, so many books to read. Use them. Natural first aid. Did you know there is such a thing? 'Such as?' I hear you ask. Well, off the top of my head, did you know that soy sauce is the best treatment for burns? As in once you have done the initial first aid, removed the source of burn, rinsed off with cool water, or rested in cool water, soak a few chux or similar cloths (old nappies or towels) in water, pour and cover with soy sauce and put in the freezer. Every 10 minutes or so, take one out, wrap the burned area with the cloth. Once it warms and softens, put it back in the freezer and cover with the other cloth. Keep going until there is no more stinging. I have seen 3rd degree burns healed completely within hours by using this method immediately. Or, what about the hot/cold treatment? We all know about heat packs or cold compresses but few talk about combining the two. In sanitoriums, hot and cold baths were used but not all of us have that luxury. So get a container of cold water to which iceblocks have been added. And fill another container with very warm (not hot) water. First, put the painful area in the warm water until it no longer feels warm, then put it into the icy water. Once it feels no longer cold, top up the warm water with hot water to increase the heat slightly and put the painful area into the water. When it cools a little, repeat the cold, then increase the temp of the hot and repeat. NEVER make it too hot and never use just iceblocks. Common sense rules... Within a very short time, the capillaries and lymphatics have expanded and contracted repeatedly, flushing through inflammatory compounds while bringing new fresh blood to the area. This works at rapidly reducing pain and inflammation. I could fill a book with the healings I have witnessed using this method. And there are literally thousands of amazing natural first aid options available around the world. Supplements: Aside from the fact that corruption has allowed big pharma to buy out many natural health companies (read the small print - who owns it?), there are some amazing supplements available. Apart from a very few nutrients, I am not a fan of the medicalisation and isolation of nutrients. This method creates further imbalance, organ damage and even toxicity. Complexes are the way to go, whether herbal or vitamin. STOP listening to the naysayers and 'evidence based' rhetoric stating that there is no proof that any of these things work. Rubbish. Billions of lives over the years would say otherwise. Their testing methods have been shaped with very real outcomes in mind - proving a natural therapy is not one of them. Visit the sales, the clearances - build up your stock. You may not need it now but you will. And ignore 'use by' dates. They have been dictated by the same rules that oversee perishable foods that do indeed expire. Pharmaceuticals: Believe it or not, as an ex nurse, I still promote and use certain pharmaceuticals. They all come with dangers but in an emergency, they can save a life. I am not talking about depending on pharmaceuticals to exist or barely stay alive. I am talking about what will help you when nothing else will. Some of my recommendations include mild analgesia, STRONG analgesia (sadly there are restrictions on codeine based meds - which is a joke because the drugs they recommend in their places have more side effects and kill more annually than codeine ever did). If you can access it, stockpile it. Antihistamines - allergies are not a joke, especially if they should cause pain or stop you from breathing. Admittedly, there are not many pharmaceuticals I would use - not because they don't work, but because of the side effects and the little known fact that there is almost ALWAYS a natural alternative. Again, research it and stockpile! Homeopathy: Those who know me, also know I am a homeopath first and foremost. But for a little corruption and not a little amount of money, homeopathy would have been mainstream and what we now know as modern medicine, would have been an elective, only when needed. While a practitioner cannot state these words, I can because I no longer practice - homeopathy cures - homeopathy heals - homeopathy is safe - homeopathy is safe and works for ALL animals - homeopathy can be used safely and effectively for ALL ages, during pregnancy, while you are in a coma and best of all, even if someone is not aware you are administering it, it will STILL work. Homeopathy can be made from any material, matter or energy and the end remedy is the opposite of the original substance, an energy imprint. For example, if you cut an onion, it makes your eyes water and your nose sting. Like hayfever. So, guess which remedy is brilliant for hayfever? Allium cepa - aka onion. No onion left, but the energy imprint elicits the opposite effect. For the same reason. someone who is allergic to say pollen, can safely take the pollen tincture to cure a pollen allergy. It must be prepared by a compounding homeopath or pharmacist trained and skilled in homeopathy.You cannot hurt yourself with homeopathy, but if you take the wrong remedy, it simply wont have any benefit at all. This is where an expert prescription should be considered. OR.... a preparation of a combination of remedies which enhance the properties of each other and focus on a symptom set should be in every single household.
