Pyrrole disorder, Kryptopyroluria or any other name it is given, has been known of for over 50 years and remains largely ignored by the medical profession around the world, even though it is linked to many of the psychological and physical ailments plaguing society today. So, what is it?
Well still today, not a lot is known; there are pathology tests available but no one knows why the urine of sufferers contains higher levels of zinc and Vitamin B6, or why, upon testing, and often despite good diets, the binding of Magnesium, Biotin, Manganese, Chromium, Omega 6, Leucine, Isoleucine & Valine creates deficiences and related symptoms - and the flip side of this is poor methylation which results in extremely high levels of Copper, Mercury, Aluminium and other heavy metals.
Pyrroles are compound waste products resulting from the formation of haemoglobin and are normally excreted in the urine. Due to many factors - toxic environment, pharmaceutical drug damage, injury & stress - the formation of pyrroles increases to an unhealthy level and the body is not able to excrete this waste product. Enzyme and hormone levels are depleted and the knockon effects are often catastrophic - and instead of treating the cause, the resulting disorders become diagnoses in and of themselves. So, what are the symptoms?
In truth, you could possibly name almost any mental health or neurological disorder, any auto immune disorder or chronic health disorder and pyroluria would be implicated, if not causative.
Neurological disorders such as PANDAS, autism, bipolar,ADHD, tourettes, schizophrenia, sensory disorders, criminal behaviour, psychoses, manic depression, dyslexia, PTSD
Endocrine disorders such as thyroid & adrenal disorders, high cortisol levels, abnormal fat distribution,
Autoimmune disorders such as chronic fatigue, MS, fibromyalgia, lyme, mould sensitivity, Parkinsonism, Alzheimers - and more
Gut/Microbiome - candida, leaky gut, SIBO, food intolerances,
Chromosomal disorders - Down Syndrome, macular degeneration, addictive personality
Hormonal - Post natal depression, diabetes, delayed puberty
Skin & hair - eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, lupus, acne, dry skin, premature grey hair, hypopigmentation of skin, inability to tan, absence or reduction in eyelashes and brows
Connective tissue - crowding of teeth, weak tooth enamel, weak muscles, rashes, stretchmarks, stunted growth, dental cavities, receding gums, excessive white spots on fingernails
Other known issues include - Cancers, criminal behaviour, allergies, epilepsy, poor immunity, amenorrhoea or irregular periods, splenomegaly
Everyday symptoms may include:
Always feeling sick
Fluctuating blood sugar
Poor wound healing
Possible causes or triggers:
Pathogenic trigger (EB, bacterial infection etc)
IUD or other high copper exposure
Abuse & trauma triggers
Unhealthy diet & lifestyle
Exposure to toxic chemicals
Heavy metals (low enzyme levels = reduced heavy metal detoxification)
So what is the treatment?
Treatment options and success are varied as most health professionals refuse to acknowledge the issue and instead, treat with pharmaceuticals that mask symptoms/create further symptoms or synthetic supplements that further prevent the body from doing its job.
There is no doubt that plant based, pure supplementation is necessary - zinc, B6, biotin, magnesium manganese and so on (see above) but most vital is heavy metal detoxification, a change of diet and removal of exposure to a toxic environment.
Homeopathic healing is another method of dealing with symptoms without simply masking them. Certain remedies assist with the symptoms while others help reduce heavy metals. Symptomatically, gentle assistance with anxiety are often needed, while symptoms such as feelings that overwhelm (panic, fear, extreme responses) can be dealt with while avoiding the need to sedate. Those who self-medicate with addictions or develop addictive personalities may find support here while an overall medicinal mushroom tonic can assist in balance.
